We will also explore how to develop effective plans for assessing students' learning and service.

Service Learning for Social Justice

Too often, service-learning experiences begin and end with short term efforts to meet immediate needs. This session will address how to incorporate a social justice approach in any service-learning project through addressing the root causes of the problem, empowering all participants, and working on multiple fronts in collaboration with others for long term social change.

Collaborating with Community Partners: Principles for Success

So you want to begin a service-learning project working with a local community agency. How do you find a suitable partner? What is the best way to make the initial contact? How do you establish an ongoing mutually beneficial collaboration? Based on the research on effective collaborations and the presenter's own experiences, this session will give participants the tools they need to create successful school/community partnerships.
